About Rhubarb
Established in 2016 to support emerging writers and bring the best new voices in the North to Shipley, Rhubarb at The Triangle is a well-loved fixture on the Yorkshire spoken word scene. Pay-as-you-feel events on the last Wednesday of the month pair invited guest readers with a friendly open mic in a quirky room above a bottle shop. And there is sometimes cake!
Rhubarb writers have published two anthologies to date, featured in The Guardian, and made guest appearances at Saltaire Festival, The Ilkley Literature Festival Fringe and Leeds Poetry Festival.
Rhubarb open mics are currently co-organised by Nick Allen, Kristina Diprose, Mike Farren, Liz McPherson and Lauren K. Nixon.
We also have a spinoff poetry book club (coordinated by Kristina) and a new Shipley Stanza group (coordinated by Hannah Stone) for peer reviewing draft work in progress.
